Warm your heart and soul with this limited edition flight of chocolates made with three Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, available beginning in early February.
Oban Little Bay is bold and complex, featuring luscious notes of Christmas pudding, citrus, and spice, with a dark chocolate finish. Oban, founded in 1794 and just steps from the sea leading to the Hebridean Islands, is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, with two small stills.
Highland Park 18 Year Old introduced me to the pleasure of drinking Scotch. Complex and harmonious, aged in sherry seasoned oak casks, it combines honey sweetness with hints of cherries, toffee, chocolate, and the barest touch of aromatic, heathery peat smoke. It’s made in Orkney, an archipelago with just two distilleries, on a windswept and treeless island so far north that it sits just outside the Arctic Circle. My chocolates made with this whisky won a Gold International Chocolate Award.
Talisker Storm, the oldest distillery on the rugged and beautiful Isle of Skye, starts out mellow and rich, then the heat kicks in with a storm of woody, peppery, and smoky flavors. If you want to explore the peaty side of Scotch whisky, this is a perfect starting place.
